Comments about Ibex Duo Wool Bike Short:

Great for training. Even better for touring as it copes with changing conditions and all day rides. Very comfortable padded chamois. Only fault is that Duo Shorts have too high a waist (at least on the medium size) which was too tight on the belly, but I just fold the elastic waist down to sit on my hip bones. Didn't notice this on the 3/4 version which fits in perfect proportion.

Just got these shorts, but I already love them. The chamois is moderately thin which I really like. The shorts have a thoughtful design. Very comfortable. The small is a bit smaller than I'm used to.

Comments about Ibex Duo Wool Bike Short:

I am totally a bib wearer but wanted a pair of good shorts to commute to work in and these work great.
            Pros
            -Love the warm natural feel
-Chamois is great for my 20 - 30 mile ride each day
-Wear them for a week without washing and they don't stink compared to classic spandex shorts.

            Cons
-Don't very stretchy. Feel a little constricted around waist.
-The fit really well but I am very skinning and the chamois can sag a little but not bad enough for chafing.

Comments about Ibex Duo Wool Bike Short:

(When you're a cusp person, sizing can get dicey. Below you'll find a review I did of the Duo Short in Large, and this one is for the Mediums.)

Going by the charts for 'bottoms' (not mine, mind you, but clothing for the lower half of a human), a few months ago I ordered the Duo Cycling Short in Large. And while they have rapidly become my favorite choice, they seem vaguely roomy for something that should fit very snugly. Still, their overall comfort has been high enough for me to order another pair…but the apparent slight excess material made me wonder about Mediums.

Last week I took some Christmas cash and bought a Duo in Medium, and while the Mediums are a smidgeon too snug, they nonetheless fit closer to the perfect fit. The material is supportive in addition to the exceptional comfort of the merino panels and the pad (which is even more comfortable in the Medium than the Large), and I liken the fit to being as expected of a cycling short.

I've been buying Mediums all these years, but for a roomy fit in an Ibex jacket or shirt or pants, I buy Large. But I have to say, for those garments I want to fit as they should—and cycling clothes should fit closer than, say, a casual shirt—I'm ordering my traditional size for best effect.

I would also like to say this: so many people are reviewing wool clothing as though merino is a cool weather-only material. It is not, and my SS Ibex jerseys prove (and I'm sure these shorts will, too) to be far more comfortable even on summer rides, than any synthetic jersey I own (and rarely use any more). Merino: not just for Winter anymore.

Comments about Ibex Duo Wool Bike Short:

I live near Denver and ride my Columbus steel frame Italian road bike into the foothills a couple times a week. Each ride is about 35-65 miles. I'm 6'-0" and about 195 lbs, and I have something to say about your shorts.
The fabric is excellent. The fit is excellent, but the legs could be a couple inches longer. The chamois is very poor quality though, so much so I considered replacing it. But before I did that, I opened a small section of the threading holding the chamois on, turned the chamois inside out through the hole, and stripped the foam backing off, then restitched it. It is much better now, but still not as good as my other lycra shorts. I use plenty of chamois creme and still get abrasion.
I have been considering getting your knickers but held back because of the issue I have with the chamois in the shorts. Although the reviews for the knickers are more favorable and no mention of the chamois, I'm still holding back.

Comments about Ibex Duo Wool Bike Short:

I've been going wool for about 10 years, and a lot of help for that goes to Ibex. When the Duo came out, sporting not just non-wool in the shell fabric, but a poofy pad, I was both intrigued and skeptical.Nylon and Spandex, in minor roles, seem to compliment wool in this application for the exact reasons Ibex slipped them into the ingredient list: shape retention and durability. But padding in cycling shorts, well...my fat-pad, high-dollar shorts stay in the drawer mostly, while I keep sliming up my old chamois shorts and going for rides. I wanted to see Ibex put this remarkable shell material with a traditional pad, and give me a call. I call them the TraDuo, and $10 more or less and they'd make another sale. Now, after the first three rides on the Duos, maybe I'm not so determined to have the old chamois as I was. This pad disappears on the bike, the shell wicks sweat just like it's supposed to, and the comfort level is very high.A mild bunching in the middle, and my desire to still have a TraDuo chamois with this great shell, keeps me from calling these perfect. But I gladly admit these shorts are closer to the ideal mark than any other I've ever owned, regardless of price.

Comments about Ibex Duo Wool Bike Short:

These shorts have just an average quality chamois which is disappointing for the price point. The major problem is the overall design or fit of the shorts - the leg openings are too small/tight (these are made for cyclists--with larger than "average" quadricep muscles) relative to the waist, at least for me at 6' 165lb. Hopefully they will re-design these.
