It comes from the Austrian village of Loderers, and what makes it different is its dense knit and, when you're talking about Ibex wool, its processing. We use a cold-water process that protects the fiber's natural lanolin. The result is a beautiful, breathable, naturally water- and stain-resistant fabric that pretty much lasts forever. Don't think of our Ibex Loden pieces as clothes. Think of them as part of your children's inheritance.

FABRIC: Loden 400

Loden wool is named after the Austrian village of Loderers, where it originated in the 16th century. Ibex Loden, still made in Austria, is a densely-knit fabric modernized by an exclusive cold water process. This process protects the natural lanolin in the fiber, making it more weather- and stain- resistant as well as environmentally friendly. Our Loden 400 is our heaviest weight loden.

I've sent back every winter coat in women's sizing. the men's styling is lacking but there is more room.
This coat has more room for the 'girls' for my arms for more activities like breathing. I like the thickness of the fabric which I hoping will cut down on the wind. Wool stays warm even when wet. bring on the cold.

I HAVE MANY JACKETS BUT SEEM TO ALWAYS GRAB THIS ONE! IT HAS A VERY FLATTERING CUT AND SO COMFORTABLE TO WEAR! I HAVE IT IN BOTH RED (ORANGEY RED) AND PURPLE. HAVE WORN IT HIKING ON THE OREGON COAST IN MARCH AND STAYED WARM AND DRY. IT ALSO DRESSES UP NICELY WITH A SCARF.

This is a great coat to wear to work or for errands and around town. It is a bit thick and stiff for the backcountry. I love being in the backcountry, but because of high intensity athletics it is not necessary to have a heavy coat like this. i love the coat for the above uses.!

I have the Mollie jacket and find the construction a little nicer on the Mollie than the Europa, which is a little bulkier in the upper body, with excess fabric in the upper sleeves. The color "snow" is also more gray than white. Two-way zip, though, is always a plus. A useful warm light-colored jacket.

Jacket was bought as a gift for my wife for casual wear in winter when a lighter weight sweater would most likely be worn under it. Fit through torso is a bit snug for the size with sweater, while sleeve length seems long. Still a beautiful jacket: color; material, finish. Now I wish that she would surprise me and buy me one! Ibex makes beautiful clothing.
