FROM: $130.00 to $195.00 Two words: 'wool' and 'sweater.' It's the winter staple. Now, throw in 'ibex' and you're talking about everything a wool sweater can be: cozy and warm, of course, but also high performing on and off the trail, soft and durable.
There's nothing like a wool sweater in the cold weather. And there's nothing better than an Ibex wool sweater.
I bought this last February and initially really liked it. After wearing it to work as an external layer for several weeks, I noticed some pilling on the side where my messenger bag sits. It's not quite as durable as I would have expected, but maybe the repetitive friction of a loose bag was a bit much to expect of a sweater...

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
Not quite as tight-knit or heavy as that old ski patrol uniform, the crewneck Montant sweaters from France, but the Ultimate Guide is warm, easy to put on and take off, with an inside finish that feels soft as cashmere.

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
I've used the UGS at school, work, and home. It is exquisitely comfortable and very warm, and has a pleasant combination of professional and rustic style.
I can't say much more than has already been said--it's a great sweater. The only issue I've found is that it is just a bit long and tends to stretch (easily remedied by a few minutes of heat in the dryer), but that turns into a plus when you head out in chilly weather.

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
I am 5' 8" and 160 lbs. I usually wear a medium in this type of thing. The body fit fine in girth, but was way too long in sleeves and length of body. I bought 4 different tops from Ibex and all suffered from this. I returned 3 and kept one of the under layers and just wear it with the sleeves rolled up 3 inches. It's a pity for me about the fit, because the product otherwise seems great. I have other manufacturers' merino products, love them and like much of the Ibex styling.

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
One of the nicest sweaters I own. I am extremely sensitive to wool and the Guide has just about no itch at all. It seems to be pilling slightly before the first wash. I hope it does not pill much more. I will probably buy one more in another color.

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
This really is the ultimate sweater. From being a great mid-layer on the coldest of days to serving as a casual sweater on chilly days, this baby does it all! It is so so soft on the inside and seems to get softer with washings. I don't think I'd beat on it like I do with the Ibex Shak. It's not snag-proof. But this sweater accomplishes its job.
I will definitely buy another.

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
This is my second ultimate guide (the first is years old and still looks great) - These sweaters are really well made and designed, with details like a reinforced cell phone/Ipod pocket and no snag quarter zipper. While they require an outside layer to stop the wind, they are really warm without being the least bit stifling. Highly recommended.

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
This is my second Guide sweater. My first is a couple of years old and I love it, except that the sleeves are a bit tight, not leaving me room to wear anything more than a light base layer under the sweater. This was a surprise since I'm not a big guy and mediums usually fit well. My 2010 version fits perfectly and the sleeves are much better sized.

Comments about Ibex Ultimate Guide Sweater:
I bought the XL pine colored version on sale several weeks ago. I'm 6 feet, 170 pounds and I probably could have ordered a L, but I intend to use this sweater for layering. Also, I prefer to have a little extra room in my sweaters. I've been layering this over a Shak to stay warm in a record-breaking snowy Dallas winter.
