Comments about Ibex Scout 1/2 Zip:
[...] I bought it for myself instead and LOVE it! It is closer to a woman's L so it is a bit big for me (I normally wear an Ibex M) but pleasantly roomy and comfortable. I can layer underneath with plenty of space while retaining the ability to move OR wear it just with a tank - either way it looks great. I use it every weekend out on the boat in Whittier, AK, while fishing and shrimping and it has held up wonderfully to continual use and sea spray. Highy recommended!

The first one I got was too small, but I still loved it. The weave or fabric is less dense than say, the Shack, but that's why its great!

Comments about Ibex Scout 1/2 Zip:
I love the material, color and style of the 1/2 Zip, but the cut is odd.
I'm 6-2, 185 and a Large in every type of garment, but my 1/2 Zip Large is an XL, or maybe a XXL. The sleeves hang to my middle knuckle and the body is way wide. And that's after I machine dried it on high heat to try to shrink it. I still wear it (right now, in fact), but I wish it was a better fit.

Comments about Ibex Scout 1/2 Zip:
Like the heading says this is by far my favorite garment and I'm really hard on clothing and apparel. I'm that guy you give the indestructible hiking shoes to and I'll come back in a month with the soles worn out. And the funny part is that I'm not even doing anything extraordinary with them. Watches, Cell phones, back packs you name it I'll go through them with abandon.
Yet, I have worn my scout half zip nearly every day for an entire year and it's still looks almost the same as it did brand new... and I'm not exaggerating... I'm fairly obsessed with this garment. I think I took it off a few weeks in the summer and maybe 8 times over the winter. (Hey, hey! I know what you're thinking, I Layer!)
The fact of the matter is that this is just a durable well balanced garment. Is the scout going to be your warmest sweatshirt? No, but I guarantee you'll wear it more, because unlike most sweatshirts which you have to take off when you get hot, you can still wear a scout when it's 30 out or when it's 70 out and still feel comfortable.
It's stain resistant and breathes so well that you almost never have to wash it. (those laundry days are sad lawless times where I have to hunt to find something else to wear until my scout comes out of the wash)
It's nice enough to wear out on a date, casual enough to bum around in and has just enough "rough around the edges" to look good for when you're out in the woods or hiking the trails. Plus it's just plain comfortable. Is it baby soft? no, but it's far from itchy either and it gets softer/more comfortable over time. Another thing I really like are the "heather" style colors of the fabric. They just look amazing and it's one of the main reasons I buy the scouts because you don't find those colors anywhere else.
The fit is a nice relaxed cut where you can easily wear it with or without layers. I would usually layer up in the winter with my ringer T, Indie Crew and my scout, then go shovel my driveway. It was a touch chilly when I first started but that quickly goes away when you get going. But what is great about that combination is that it breathes so well that you don't get cold when you start sweating from hurling all that snow all over the place, and that is important because it evaporates off you before it can saturate your clothing and chill the skin. I also wore that combination with a waterproof outer shell while driving through the northern pass of the cascade mountains in November in a convertible mustang with the top down... people thought we were crazy! lol, But even at 29 degrees with a 70 MPH wind chill I was comfortable. I also wear my scout as a layer when I go motorcycle riding because the high collar keeps my neck warm in that small gap between my jacket and my helmet.
Again I can't say enough good things about this garment because it's just plain versatile and it should be an essential layer of any set of wool clothing.

It really holds up well even when washed. It looks so nice with jeans or khakis. I'm tall, 6'4 and the length is perfect for me.

I had to buy several Scout 1/2 Zips to keep up with my own demand... possibly the most comfortable, versatile, and heavily depended upon wool piece I've ever owned. Lots of compliments and positive feedback from friends and family.

Comments about Ibex Scout 1/2 Zip:
The Scout 1/2 Zip is my new favorite item from Ibex! I have always loved the Shak Shirt, but the new Scout 1/2 Zip is my new favorite. I purchased one, had it a day and went back to order another color. It is probably the piece that I like the most and the biggest reason is the Napoleon type zippered chest pocket. The angle at which it is sewn is great as I forgot to zip it shut the other day and had it been a straight sew pocket I would have lost my iPhone right quick. The pocket is sewn and positioned perfectly as it doesn't look like I have an alien growth on my chest when it is "loaded" with things like my phone. Keeps my phone out of my pocket and at easy access! Love this piece-wish that there were more colors available as I'd buy more.

Comments about Ibex Scout 1/2 Zip:
Some other reviewers questioned the sizing. I found it consistent with other Ibex products. I'm 6'1" 168 pounds and the Medium is ample without being at all baggy. Sleeves longish, but I like that about Ibex. Soft and warm fabric, nicely tailored, casually refined. I'm glad to own this one.
