My Shak Hoody has been doing full-time duty as a Nordic skiing layer here in central Ontario, Canada. On cold, calm days, it makes a fine outer layer. When it's windy, I use it under a shell. The hood is fitted, and works well over a merino cap. The neck contour is just right for wearing fully-zipped in cold conditions, but lets you vent when you warm up.

There is slightly more room in the chest than I've come to expect in an Ibex size Large, but not so much that I'd need to switch to a Medium. I've experienced slight pilling where it makes contact with other clothing (beneath a backpack), but it's not extensive. Good durability, in my opinion...

The chest pocket is great, but I'd love one more at waist-level to make this perfect. All in all, an excellent addition to my winter wardrobe. Did I mention the excellent, vivid colour? I chose the green, and it's a super-cool not-drab-but-not-bright olive!

Great hoody, I will be using for years to come. I love the thumb holes and tight fitting hood. I bought because I've had another Shak pull-over for years and have loved the work horse characteristics.

I think the tight fitting hood will fit great under a cycling helmet and thumb holes which extend the sleeves inside gloves will be regular for cold weather cycling.

Then there is the cool everyday styling beyond function you guys manage to master.

I'm giving it a try out in Door County, WI this weekend.

The sleeves are a tag long for me, but for my wife, they would be perfect. she can rarely find garments with long enough sleeves. Even if they're a bit long for me, it doesn't matter, they're just down on my wrists. the thumb hole is great.

Great sweater for a XXL person the hood stays on and does not need strings. great fit just wish it was a better color than black. Keep us big guys in mind.

I was supremely excited to see this was offered in XXL. Life is a series of disappointments as many promising items aren't offered in my size. This single piece has/will serve many uses for some time. Built with typical Ibex quality, it is functional and its appearance doesn't scream hiker/biker/skier. It is what I would consider medium weight material, but feels light when on. The fit is just trim enough to allow movement, but not billow in gusts. The hood and thumb loops are excellent additions. I was nervous that I'd want additional pockets, but the single chest pocket is just fine. In case you've read all this, and can't tell, I like this a lot.
