Ibex Outdoor Clothing. When people discover that we originated* in Woodstock, we always have to point out, no, not that Woodstock. Our version is in Vermont. It’s a village of quaint homes and country stores, all surrounded by breathtaking mountains, farms and rivers. We bike over a covered bridge to a workplace where dogs greet our guests. It’s the perfect setting, actually, for the spirit of the artisan to flourish.
See, making outdoor clothing is really as much art as science. It’s about choosing the right fabrics, understanding the different properties of those fabrics, and knitting for specific outdoor activities. It’s about crafting more performance, comfort and style. And along the way, making sure that everything’s sustainable. That’s what we love to do. Which is how we create the most complete line of outdoor wool clothing available.
I started Ibex because, as a cross-country skier in the 70s, the wool I wore performed so well. Synthetics made me sweat like a gorilla. Yet I also felt that wool could be improved. And with help from like-minded craftspeople—sheep farmers, employees, folks at the mills—that belief has become a reality. From our hands to your body, we think you’ll enjoy wearing Ibex as much as we enjoy making it.

*We are now just 14 miles down the road in White River Jct., because we outgrew our warehouse but the dogs and the bike commuting hasn’t changed.
